The National Weather Service has issued a freeze watch most of central and western Minnesota from 1-9am late Friday night into Saturday morning. Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation. Fun fact: this watch is only issued when temps get to a point where they may damage or kill unharvested crops, which would end the growing season. The first freeze around here usually happens October 13th. This watch also includes Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, and Wisconsin.
St. Cloud Police have arrested some juveniles following a crash in a stolen vehicle. Officers responded to the area of 7th Street Southeast and Oakwood Drive just before Noon on Wednesday. A vehicle was found abandoned at that location after it hit a curb and became disabled. Officers learned that several boys were seen running from the scene of the crash to a nearby apartment building. A number of units responded to the apartment building where officers took several juvenile males into custody. One of the boys, a 15-year-old from St. Cloud, was seen running from the stolen vehicle and was taken into custody. The boy was transported to a juvenile detention facility on charges related to the stolen car. Two other suspects, a 14-year-old St. Cloud boy and a 15-year-old Minneapolis boy, were also taken into custody on unrelated felony warrants. Both of those boys were also brought to a juvenile detention center. Police say several other young people were released pending further investigation. Officers determined the suspects were able to take the vehicle by tampering with the ignition column. No one was hurt in the incident.

Three incidents Wednesday in High School Football games have some concern. The varsity football game between the Proctor Rails and the Grand Rapids Thunderhawks was called early in the second quarter after a player was injured and taken to the hospital in an ambulance. Grand Rapids was leading 21-0 in the second quarter when Proctor junior running back Dakota Peterson was injured, though a person who identified himself as an uncle on Facebook said all of Peterson’s medical tests came back with good news. There was Zander Opsahl, a senior running back and defensive back on the Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton High School football team, who was taken by ambulance to a hospital after suffering an injury during the school’s varsity game at Barnesville High School on Wednesday night. “He took a helmet-to-helmet shot, and when he was down, he said he couldn’t feel his toes. Whether that was numbness or whatever, but was able too when he left the game. Opsahl entered the game as DGF’s third-leading rusher, with 35 carries for 208 yards and three touchdowns for the Rebels (7-0), who rallied to win the game 37-21. A third incident where a student had to be ambulanced occurred in Lakeville where a collision caused a student to be put in a back brace and ambulanced to a hospital though no report was given on extent of injuries.
